Mike recently retired from Police Scotland as an Inspector having specialised in Emergencies and Counter Terrorist Planning being the tactical lead for delivery of the prepare strand of the CONTEST strategy.
Mike was the national exercising lead in the preparation of numerous site specific plans including Aircraft diversion planning, nuclear installation and convoy preparedness at Hunterston, the Clyde Base Faslane and arrangements for responding to a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear attack.
Mike has a wealth of experience in terms of exercise planning, partnership and multi agency working across the emergency Planning landscape, representing the police on several national bodies including the Department For Transport Hijack Airport Working Group, ACPOS Ports Group, UK Nuclear Police Forum, The Emergency Arrangements Joint Working Group for the Nuclear Industry and the Counter Terrorist Operational Learning and Development Group.
In his role as an Emergencies Procedures Advisor Mike was deployed at a number of major and critical incidents. Mike attended and advised at the terrorist incident at Glasgow Airport on the 30th June 2007 until the conclusion of the initial emergency phase, a role for which he received a commendation from the Chief Constable.
